Interview with residents

Meiji Seika Pharma Co., Ltd. is a pharmaceutical company engaged in the development and manufacture and sale of therapeutic drugs and vaccines for infectious diseases and mental and nervous system diseases as a pharmaceutical business of the Meiji Group. As a research base, we have an in-house research institute in Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and have also opened our own laboratory at Mitsui Link Lab Shinkiba1 in order to take on the challenge of research and development of antibody drugs in the blood cancer field. We interviewed four people, including Mr. Tsuchiya, Deputy Director of Research and Development Division and Research Department, about the motivation for opening a new lab and future prospects.

Asphreia Co., Ltd. is a company that manufactures and sells cosmetics and supplements using raw materials, as well as supports the research and development of exosomes, which play an important role in the development and development of many diseases, including cancer. At Mitsui Link Lab Shinkiba1, we are also conducting joint research with various companies in the spirit of open innovation. We talked to three people, including Yukie Kuniki (Representative Director) about the current business content and future prospects.

The Biologics Center for Research and Training (BCRET) is a general incorporated association established in 2017 with the aim of fostering "biologics human resources." Until now, we have been focusing on bases in Port Island (Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture), but from this year we have expanded our scope to the Tokyo area. We opened a second base at Mitsui Link Lab Shinkiba 1, which led to the first training course in the fall. S & B Shokuhin Co., Ltd. is one of Japan's leading food manufacturers with roots in Higashiya, which was founded in Asakusa Nanagencho in 1923 (Daisho 12). The company, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, is engaged in research and development every day with the aim of realizing "self-medication with spices" by elucidating the various functions of spices. We spoke with Mr. Mitsunori Sakata and Mr. Hiroyuki Onda of the Central Research Institute of Development and Production Group about the current business and future prospects.

Forness Life Co., Ltd. is a company that operates under the two pillars of "Forness Business," a service that predicts future risk of developing diseases such as myocardial infarction and dementia from a small amount of blood and supports lifestyle improvement, and SOMASCAN®DISCOVERY, a contract measurement service that analyzes approximately 7,000 types of proteins contained in trace samples at once. Apart from the headquarters of Nihonbashi Life Science Building 3 (Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku), Mitsui Link Lab Shinkiba1 also provides services. We spoke to four people, including Yuko Hirai (Head of Proteomics Laboratory) about the company's current business and future prospects.

With 21 locations in China and the United States, the CRO and the Pharmaron Group provide full support from drug discovery research and development to commercialization. In addition to the opening of Mitsui Link Lab Shinkiba1, Furmalon Japan G.K., our Japanese base, is developing pharmaceutical development support services from Japan to overseas and contracted bioanalysis services.

In June 2022, Saikinso Corporation, which develops the "Mykinso" series of intestinal Flora test, opened the "Sykinso Shinkiba Lab," an intestinal Flora analysis base at Mitsui Link Lab Shinkiba1. By shifting to a two-base structure with the conventional lab, we have acquired processing capacity that is expected to be more than twice as much as before.
